6 Ways to Make Money When You Have None

1. Drive for Uber or Lyft

Companies like Uber and Lyft offer a great opportunity to make some extra cash. You’ll need a clean driving record, a fairly new car, and the authorization to work wherever it is that you live. If you have all of those things, you can work when it’s feasible for you, whether that’s in the middle of the day during rush hour or the wee hours of the night on a weekend. The choice is yours.

If you have an extra room, turn it into an apartment (with careful screening). Have an unused stable? Board horses. Many consumers search for alternatives to public storage, especially for cars.

63. Recycle

You can earn money gathering recyclable materials and delivering them to local recycling facilities. Recycling facilities pay you for the items you bring in by weight, so you’re looking to get as much of one type of item as possible. You can also make money recycling through sites such as Gazelle, BoxCycle and uSell.

69. Make Referrals

A time-honored way to make easy money is to refer friends to products or services you currently use. Various businesses, from ride-sharing companies like Uber to credit card companies, pay out rewards to the referrer and referred. Research different referral programs to target the ones with the best return on investment.

8. Make money waiting for deliveries

This really is how to make money by just hanging around!

It’s similar to house sitting (really it is ‘short term house sitting’) but it’s an easier and quicker way to earn money than staying in someone’s home for a long period of time.

We all dread those horrible time-windows given to us by delivery companies or the plumber when you need something fixed. Sometimes you really are expected to wait in the whole day!

Well some people are willing to pay you to sit in their house and wait instead.

Pay can actually be quite good, you can earn between £8-£10 an hour, and you really are doing nothing but waiting!

One company who specialises in short term house sitting is Direct Sitters. You can apply to join their team, although they ideally look for people with a background in childcare or teaching. Also don’t forget to look out for potential jobs in places like Gumtree.com – you never know what kind of opportunity you might stumble across.

3. Browsing the web

No creeper stuff, just consumer research. Swagbucks wants to know what you’re looking up. They ask that you install an add-on that records your searches. You can earn points that can be redeemed as gift cards to stores you probably browsed in the first place.

Start a Youtube Channel

Starting a Youtube Channel is a great way to earn extra money without having to spend a dime to make it.

You will have to put in some time and effort, but with the cameras on smartphones today, that’s all you really need.

There are many different ways you can make money from Youtube,  but what I love about this option is that you’ll be able to make money from doing something you enjoy.

What are you into? Cooking? Fitness? Pranks? Politics?

Whatever it is, make your Youtube channel about something you’re interested in. Otherwise, you might give up quicker than you should.

Unlike a lot of the methods discussed in this article, making money from Youtube will take a bit of time as you’ll first need to grow a following and subscriber base.

But once you do this, your earning potential will be unlimited. The more views you get, the more money you’ll make.

Mow Lawns

You might have read this and thought, oo give me a break – but just hear me out for a second.

Everyone who owns a house has a lawn, but 99% of these people don’t want to mow it. That’s a huge market, and you only need a small, small, small percentage of this market to make money.

In fact, you only need one customer!

Here’s what you do.

Pick a few neighbourhoods and spend a weekend going door to door asking people if they’d be interested in you mowing their lawns.

You’ll get a lot of no’s, but you’ll get some yeses, and that’s all you need!

Knock on 300 doors and aim to get 8 clients that will pay you an average of $100 bi-weekly to mow their lawn – that’s over $1500 a month for a bit of work on the weekends.

Don’t look homeless when going door to door, put on a collared shirt and look presentable.Quick Tip #1

Not only this, but most households own lawn mowers so you don’t even have to buy one yourself.

Again, there is $0 upfront cost here.

Invest Your Money and Get Paid for Doing Nothing

The best way to make money without doing anything is to invest part of your income and let it grow.

Real estate investment apps offer an easy way to invest in real estate, with far less of an investment than buying a property on your own.

Fundrise lets you get in on real estate investing for as little as $500. The company helps you get better returns on your money, managing the entire project on your behalf.

It will pool your investment with other investors so you can gain access to private real estate deals. This is a cool way to diversify your investments and make money for doing nothing.

2. Diversify Your Investments

A diversified portfolio can bring in some of the biggest returns. You can use a free automated investor platform like M1 Finance to achieve this. You can automate your contributions so that you can truly grow your money without lifting a finger.

3. Acorns

Acorns is an investing app that lets you invest your spare change and earn passive income in interest. The nice thing about Acorns is that it helps you invest money without drawing more than $.99 from your account at a time.

The way Acorns works is by connecting your debit or credit cards. When you make a purchase for say $24.50 at the store, Acorns rounds up your payment to $25 and invests $.50 on your behalf. It’s an extremely easy way to start an investment account without dipping into your savings or committing to monthly payments you may not be able to afford.

Sign up with Acorns and start investing to earn money for doing nothing!

12. If you exercise, sign up for Gympact

This app gives you money every time you stick to your workout goals, paid for by the people who don’t stick to theirs. If you’re already going to the gym three times a week, you might as well get rewarded for it.

4. Sell Your Stuff

We all have loads of random things laying around the house that we haven’t touched in so long. This year alone I’ve sold an old digital camera I haven’t used in more than 5 years. I also sold a bicycle that I thought I would use but never did.

I went through a ‘fat phase’ (still partially going through one now) and I owned a lot of expensive clothes. If you can’t tell I used to be materialistic. I started giving them away and noticed I was making a huge mistake. So I started selling them. Here are a few ways I got rid of them.

· Facebook Marketplace

· On my personal Facebook Page

· Ebay

· Upscale thrift store

6. Make money house sitting

Imagine making money doing nothing whilst relaxing in a luxurious home?

That’s what house sitting can offer.

House sitting is a growing phenomenon, many people who own more than one house are away for long periods of time for business trips.

Such people often prefer to have a trusted house sitter take care of the house than leave it at the risk of burglars or squatters.

Often it might involve pet sitting, so if you’re an animal lover then looking after an adorable pooch or feline won’t feel like work at all.

It’s not a way to earn lots of money, pay for long term house sitting starts at £10 a day, but it’s a good way to save – think of how much you could save on rent, utility bills, food etc. whilst you’re house sitting.

2. Youtube

We all have a smart phone and have access to wifi as long as you can get into a library or sit near a Starbucks. Now a days the camera on a smart phone is up to par with a decent DSLR camera.

What is stopping you from recording your day? Or even talking about something your good at, or curious about, or even documenting your surroundings? At first it seems like no one would be interested in what you have to offer, but know that SOMEONE would be.

With Youtube, you can make money lots of ways:

Affiliate Marketing– Even though discussed above, I’ll touch on it here. By reviewing products or talking about ANYTHING being sold online, you have the opportunity to make money.

Influencer Percs– As you start to grow a following, you can always partner with other Youtubers or companies trying to sell products that streamline with your channel. People will pay you to shout them out, talk about their Shopify store and the opportunities are endless.

Ad Revenue– You won’t start to see this until you really start to grow. But when you do, you’ll see an OK payout. This will never be the main source of your income.

32. Pawn your valuables

If you’re running on fumes, financially speaking, but you have some money coming your way soon, consider pawning something of value to borrow fast cash. Of course, to get those items back you’ll need to pay back the loan with interest. If you don’t pay it back in time, you’ll lose the item. If it’s something that has a lot of intrinsic value to you, don’t do it. But if it’s something that doesn’t, you can certainly consider it depending on your situation. You can also sell your valuables at your own set price on Facebook Marketplace.
